Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
The work Portrait study of a gentleman, small half-length, a sketch by Henry Perronet Briggs was worth GBP 352.50 (€ 552.02) to a buyer in May 2002. This price was achieved in the auction British and Victorian Pictures at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 80.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Henry Perronet Briggs achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Scene from 'The Adventures of Ferdinand Count Fathom' by Tobias Smollet: 'A wounded officer of Hussars having had the good fortune to take a Turkish standard, had wrapped it round his body, that whatever might happen he and his glory should not be in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 22,705.00 (€

Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Scene from 'The Adventures of Ferdinand Count Fathom' by Tobias Smollet: 'A wounded officer of Hussars having had the good fortune to take a Turkish standard, had wrapped it round his body, that whatever might happen he and his glory should not be im Februar 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 22.705,00 (€ 33.148,58).
