This artwork by Henry Dawson achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in June 2002. In the VICTORIAN PICTURES auction, the work Sunrise in a mist sold for GBP 26,290.00 (€ 40,664.68) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 12,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Henry Dawson; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Durham Cathedral From The River sold at auction in May 2013 with the realized price of GBP 52,500.00 (€ 61,380.70).
