Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Dr John Wolcot, Known As 'Peter Pindar' (1738-1819), In Black Coat, White Cravat, Powdered Wig En Queue. by Henry Bone was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2013. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,250.00 (€ 2,707.57) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Henry Bone achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Admiral Viscount Nelson (1758-1805), facing left in rear-admiral's undress, blue coat with gold buttons and gold epaulettes, white trousers and waistcoat, frilled cravat and black stock, wearing the breast star of red sash of the Order of the Bath an in November 2000 with an auction result of GBP 22,325.00 (€ 36,489.33
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Admiral Viscount Nelson (1758-1805), facing left in rear-admiral's undress, blue coat with gold buttons and gold epaulettes, white trousers and waistcoat, frilled cravat and black stock, wearing the breast star of red sash of the Order of the Bath an im November 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 22.325,00 (€ 36.489,33).
