Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In June 2020 Christies in London held the auction Face Time: People in Art through the Ages, which included the work Portrait of Frederick, Duke of York and Albany (1763-1827), wearing Field Marshal's scarlet uniform, white silk lined black velvet mantle, collar and breast star of the Order of the Garter and collar of the Order of the Bath by Henry Bone. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 12,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 12,500.00 (€ 13,766.58). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Henry Bone - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Admiral Viscount Nelson (1758-1805), facing left in rear-admiral's undress, blue coat with gold buttons and gold epaulettes, white trousers and waistcoat, frilled cravat and black stock, wearing the breast star of red sash of the Order of the Bath an, which sold at auction in November 2000 for GBP 22,325.00 (€ 36,489.33).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Juni 2020 führte Christies in London die Auktion Face Time: People in Art through the Ages durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of Frederick, Duke of York and Albany (1763-1827), wearing Field Marshal's scarlet uniform, white silk lined black velvet mantle, collar and breast star of the Order of the Garter and collar of the Order of the Bath von Henry Bone zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 12.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 12.500,00 (€ 13.766,58) einen neuen Besitzer.
