In November 2004 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction Old Master Pictures and Drawings, which included the work An Extensive Landscape With Figures Fishing And Skating On The Ice By A Frozen Port by Hendrik Pothoven. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 1,553.50 55% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Hendrik Pothoven achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of a young page, probably Guan Anthony Sideron, servant of Willem V, Prince of Orange in January last year with an auction result of USD 151,200.00 (€ 134,855.51).

Im November 2004 führte Christies in Amsterdam die Auktion Old Master Pictures and Drawings durch, in der auch die Arbeit An Extensive Landscape With Figures Fishing And Skating On The Ice By A Frozen Port von Hendrik Pothoven zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 1.553,50 und damit 55% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Hendrik Pothoven erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of a young page, probably Guan Anthony Sideron, servant of Willem V, Prince of Orange im Januar letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 151.200,00 (€ 134.855,51).
