Sold at the lower estimate price
In May 2015 Christies in New York held the auction The I.Q. van Regteren Altena Collection Part IV, which included the work Study of a standing man: A costume study for a portrait of Gerrit Swarth by Hendrik Pothoven. The result of EUR 1,000.00 was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of EUR 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Hendrik Pothoven achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of a young page, probably Guan Anthony Sideron, servant of Willem V, Prince of Orange in January last year with an auction result of USD 151,200.00 (€ 134,855.51).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im Mai 2015 führte Christies in New York die Auktion The I.Q. van Regteren Altena Collection Part IV durch, in der auch die Arbeit Study of a standing man: A costume study for a portrait of Gerrit Swarth von Hendrik Pothoven zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von EUR 1.000,00 entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von EUR 1.000,00 – 1.500,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Hendrik Pothoven erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of a young page, probably Guan Anthony Sideron, servant of Willem V, Prince of Orange im Januar letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 151.200,00 (€ 134.855,51).
