Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Three studies of Humming Birds by Heinrich Gottlieb Reichenbach was sold in the Travel, Science and Natural History auction at Christies in London in April 2011. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 875.00 (€ 985.40) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Heinrich Gottlieb Reichenbach achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work [Die Vollständigste Naturgeschichte der Vögel des In- und Auslandes. -- A collection of ten albums containing about 940 mounted ornithological illustrations, including 771 original watercolours and drawings on 640 sheets, c. 1845-1862. 10 volumes, 4° (|AID948840] in November 2000 with an auction result of G
-- A collection of ten albums containing about 940 mounted ornithological illustrations, including 771 original watercolours and drawings on 640 sheets, c. 1845-1862. 10 volumes, 4° (|AID948840] im November 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 69.750,00 (€ 114.003,62).
