A top price for Hatem El-Mekki - as previously expected
The work Les Réfugiés (The Refugees) by Hatem El-Mekki was sold in the Contemporary Art / Doha auction at Sothebys in Doha in October 2014. The price achieved of USD 305,000.00 (€ 243,415.80) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 250,000.00 – 350,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Les Réfugiés (The Refugees) is the most expensive artwork by Hatem El-Mekki that we have observed at auctions so far.

Die Arbeit Les Réfugiés (The Refugees) von Hatem El-Mekki wurde im Oktober 2014 in der Auktion Contemporary Art / Doha bei Sothebys in Doha versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 305.000,00 (€ 243.415,80) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 250.000,00 – 350.000,00 angegeben worden. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist Les Réfugiés (The Refugees) das teuerste Kunstwerk von Hatem El-Mekki, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
