The »bidding war« ended at GBP 940.00 (€ 1,536.39), 57% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Harold Wyllie; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Panorama of Portsmouth Harbour With A Battleship Getting-Up Steam And Preparing To Leave The Quayside sold at auction in May 2006 with the realized price of GBP 1,800.00 (€ 2,627.41).
