In January 2002 Christies in New York held the auction Old Master and 19th Century Drawings including Property from, which included the work Portrait of a man, bust-length, wearing a hat by Hans Schäufelein the Elder. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 250,000.00 – 350,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 270,000.00 (€ 314,172.68) could thus just exceed the lower estimate.
