Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Little Collage Iii by Gwyther Irwin was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 5,250.00 (€ 5,514.03). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gwyther Irwin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work West Of Thornton in July 2007 with an auction result of GBP 45,600.00 (€ 67,726.53).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Little Collage Iii von Gwyther Irwin im Dezember 2008 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 5.250,00 (€ 5.514,03) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gwyther Irwin erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit West Of Thornton im Juli 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 45.600,00 (€ 67.726,53).
