Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
The work French victimes Du Sphinx by Gustave Moreau was worth GBP 87,500.00 (€ 97,482.76) to a buyer in December 2018. This price was achieved in the auction 19th Century European Paintings at Sothebys in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 18,000.00 many times over. Admittedly, works by Gustave Moreau have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work La Chimère in November 2004 with an auction result of GBP 677,250.00 (€ 974,220.47).

Dieser Preise wurde in der Auktion 19th Century European Paintings bei Sothebys in London erzielt und übertraf den zuvor angesetzten oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 18.000,00 um ein Vielfaches. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Gustave Moreau auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit La Chimère im November 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 677.250,00 (€ 974.220,47).
