Auction result well in line with expectations
The work French Le Paysan Du Danube by Gustave Moreau was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May 2018. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 62,500.00 (€ 53,556.13) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gustave Moreau achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work La Chimère in November 2004 with an auction result of GBP 677,250.00 (€ 974,220.47).

Die Arbeit French Le Paysan Du Danube von Gustave Moreau kam im Mai 2018 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 60.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 62.500,00 (€ 53.556,13) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gustave Moreau erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit La Chimère im November 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 677.250,00 (€ 974.220,47).
