Sold at the lower estimate price
In December 2015 Christies in London held the auction 19th Century European & Orientalist Art, which included the work Christ In The Garden Of Olives by Gustave Moreau. The result of GBP 40,000.00 (€ 54,318.08) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gustave Moreau achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work La Chimère in November 2004 with an auction result of GBP 677,250.00 (€ 974,220.47).
