Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Mer Méditerranée - Cette (Sète), 1857 by Gustave Le Gray was auctioned at Sothebys in Paris in November 2017. The price achieved of EUR 40,000.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gustave Le Gray achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Bateaux quittant le port du Havre (navires de la flotte de Napoleon III), 1856-1857 in February 2016 with an auction result of USD 965,000.00 (€ 887,927.86).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Mer Méditerranée - Cette (Sète), 1857 von Gustave Le Gray kam im November 2017 bei Sothebys in Paris zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von EUR 40.000,00 lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit EUR 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gustave Le Gray erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Bateaux quittant le port du Havre (navires de la flotte de Napoleon III), 1856-1857 im Februar 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 965.000,00 (€ 887.927,86).
