The work Landscape with ruins of a castle by Gustave Doré was sold in the Old Master and British Works on Paper auction at Sothebys in New York in January last year. The »bidding war« ended at USD 5,040.00 (€ 4,495.18), 26% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gustave Doré achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Souvenir De Loch Carron, Ecosse in April 2014 with an auction result of EUR 481,500.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis um 26 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Landscape with ruins of a castle von Gustave Doré wurde im Januar letzten Jahres in der Auktion Old Master and British Works on Paper bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 5.040,00 (€ 4.495,18) und damit 26% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gustave Doré erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Souvenir De Loch Carron, Ecosse im April 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 481.500,00.
