Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In November 2020 Christies in London held the auction Orientalist Art, which included the work Warden of the Mosque, Damascus by Gustav Bauernfeind. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 2,500,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 2,662,500.00 (€ 2,972,248.49). Other works by Gustav Bauernfeind have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of GBP 3,728,900.00 (€ 4,325,256.58) in October 2019 for the work Market In Jaffa.
