Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Personage Masculin, From Mecanisme De La Physionomie Humaine, C. 1865 by Guillaume Duchenne de Boulogne was auctioned at Christies in New York in October 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,125.00 (€ 1,824.50). Other works by Guillaume Duchenne de Boulogne have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in April 2011 by the work Studies from Photographies Pathologiques, 1865 at USD 4,000.00 (€ 2,698.87).

Als die Arbeit Personage Masculin, From Mecanisme De La Physionomie Humaine, C. 1865 von Guillaume Duchenne de Boulogne im Oktober 2020 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 2.125,00 (€ 1.824,50) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von Guillaume Duchenne de Boulogne wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im April 2011 die Arbeit Studies from Photographies Pathologiques, 1865 mit USD 4.000,00 (€ 2.698,87).
