This artwork by Gui Changshi achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in May 2021. In the Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online auction, the work Orchid sold for HKD 137,500.00 (€ 14,534.81) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 70,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gui Changshi - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Five-Character Poems In Cursive Script, which sold at auction in November 2013 for HKD 475,000.00 (€ 45,035.28).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 96 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Gui Changshi erzielte im Mai 2021 bei Christies in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online wurde die Arbeit Orchid für HKD 137.500,00 (€ 14.534,81) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 70.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Gui Changshi mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Five-Character Poems In Cursive Script beobachtet, die im November 2013 für HKD 475.000,00 (€ 45.035,28) versteigert wurde.
