Artwork auctioned at seven times the upper estimate price
When the work Cloudy Mountain With Red Tree by Gu Fuzhen was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in March 2015, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 60,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than seven times as high at USD 466,000.00 (€ 433,851.60). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Gu Fuzhen; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Landscapes and Figures sold at auction in June 2015 with the realized price of HKD 6,040,000.00 (€ 698,547.61).
Kunstwerk zum Siebenfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Cloudy Mountain With Red Tree von Gu Fuzhen im März 2015 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 60.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 466.000,00 (€ 433.851,60) mehr als siebenmal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Gu Fuzhen; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Landscapes and Figures im Juni 2015 mit dem Hammerpreis von HKD 6.040.000,00 (€ 698.547,61).
