Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Notes To Basquiat: Untitled by Gordon Bennett was auctioned at Sothebys in Sydney in April 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of AUD 10,000.00 – 20,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for AUD 8,400.00 (€ 5,082.19). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gordon Bennett achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Self Portrait (But I Always Wanted To Be One Of The Good Guys) in December 2019 with an auction result of USD 437,500.00 (€ 389,685.58).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Notes To Basquiat: Untitled von Gordon Bennett im April 2008 bei Sothebys in Sydney versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 10.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für AUD 8.400,00 (€ 5.082,19) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gordon Bennett erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Self Portrait (But I Always Wanted To Be One Of The Good Guys) im Dezember 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 437.500,00 (€ 389.685,58).
