Auction result well in line with expectations
In August 2003 Christies in Sydney held the auction AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL & CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS, which included the work A B C D by Gordon Bennett. The price achieved of AUD 4,112.50 (€ 2,429.47) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gordon Bennett achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Self Portrait (But I Always Wanted To Be One Of The Good Guys) in December 2019 with an auction result of USD 437,500.00 (€ 389,685.58).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im August 2003 führte Christies in Sydney die Auktion AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL & CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS durch, in der auch die Arbeit A B C D von Gordon Bennett zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von AUD 4.112,50 (€ 2.429,47) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit AUD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gordon Bennett erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Self Portrait (But I Always Wanted To Be One Of The Good Guys) im Dezember 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 437.500,00 (€ 389.685,58).
