Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Fishermen in the bay of Naples, the Vesuvius in the distance by Giuseppe Carelli was sold in the Nineteen to Now, art from the 19th, 20th & 21st centuries, including Topographical Observations, African and Indonesian Pictures auction at Christies in Amsterdam in September 2009. The price achieved of EUR 3,750.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Giuseppe Carelli - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Vedute Della Costiera Amalfitana, which sold at auction in December 2008 for EUR 15,000.00.
