Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Calm Waters In The Grand Harbour, Valetta by Girolamo Gianni was sold in the 19th Century European Art auction at Christies in London in September 2015. The price achieved of GBP 6,250.00 (€ 8,463.98) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Girolamo Gianni achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Italian panoramic View Of Constantinople, View From Beyazit in May 2011 with an auction result of GBP 163,250.00 (€ 186,676.87).
