In February 2018 Sothebys in New York held the auction Master Paintings and Sculpture Day Sale, which included the work Cleopatra And The Asp by Girolamo di Benvenuto. The »bidding war« ended at USD 112,500.00 (€ 92,130.05), 41% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Girolamo di Benvenuto have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of a young man, half-length, in a blue doublet and hat and a black jacket in July 2010 with an auction result of GBP 445,250.00 (€ 535,362.96).

Oberer Schätzpreis um 41 % übertroffen

Im Februar 2018 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Master Paintings and Sculpture Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Cleopatra And The Asp von Girolamo di Benvenuto zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 112.500,00 (€ 92.130,05) und damit 41% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Girolamo di Benvenuto auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait of a young man, half-length, in a blue doublet and hat and a black jacket im Juli 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 445.250,00 (€ 535.362,96).
