This artwork by Girolamo da Santacroce achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in January 2009. In the The Roger Warner Collection - Part I auction, the work The Madonna and Child with Saints Francis of Assisi and John the Baptist, and two infant Angels, in a landscape sold for GBP 22,500.00 (€ 25,327.44) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 8,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Girolamo da Santacroce - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Nativity, which sold at auction in December 2008 for GBP 66,050.00 (€ 69,371.72).
