Auction result misses estimated price range
In January 2015 a collector was able to acquire the work Studies Of Grotesques (Recto); Studies Of Two Winged Horses (Verso) by Girolamo da Carpi for USD 10,000.00 (€ 8,857.40). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master and British Drawings at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Girolamo da Carpi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of Bindo Altoviti (1491-1556) in December 2008 with an auction result of GBP 3,065,250.00 (€ 3,219,404.39).
