Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2018 Christies in London held the auction Old Masters Day Sale, which included the work A British frigate rounding Senglea Point, Valletta, Malta during a storm; and Valletta harbour, Malta, with a fifty-two-gun fourth-rate ship at anchor by Giovanni Jean Schranz. The price achieved of GBP 25,000.00 (€ 28,030.50) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Giovanni Jean Schranz - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Hms Leander At Anchor In Dockyard Creek, Valetta Harbour, A Man-Of-War Being Fitted Out Beyond, which sold at auction in December 2008 for GBP 75,650.00 (€ 79,454.51).

Im Juli 2018 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Masters Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit A British frigate rounding Senglea Point, Valletta, Malta during a storm; and Valletta harbour, Malta, with a fifty-two-gun fourth-rate ship at anchor von Giovanni Jean Schranz zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 25.000,00 (€ 28.030,50) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Giovanni Jean Schranz mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Hms Leander At Anchor In Dockyard Creek, Valetta Harbour, A Man-Of-War Being Fitted Out Beyond beobachtet, die im Dezember 2008 für GBP 75.650,00 (€ 79.454,51) versteigert wurde.
