Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Study of a seated young man looking to the left by Giovanni Francesco Barbieri was sold in the Old Master & British Drawings auction at Christies in New York in February 2024. The price achieved of USD 56,700.00 (€ 49,554.27) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Giovanni Francesco Barbieri achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work King David in July 2010 with an auction result of GBP 5,193,250.00 (€ 6,244,298.00).
