A top price for Giovanni Francesco Barbieri - as previously expected
The work King David by Giovanni Francesco Barbieri was sold in the Old Master & 19th Century Paintings, Drawings & WatercoloursEvening auction at Christies in London in July 2010. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 5,000,000.00 – 8,000,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 5,193,250.00 (€ 6,244,298.00) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, King David is the most expensive artwork by Giovanni Francesco Barbieri that we have observed at auctions so far.
