Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Sibyl Reading by Giovanni Francesco Barbieri was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in January last year. The price achieved of USD 47,880.00 (€ 42,704.25) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Giovanni Francesco Barbieri achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work King David in July 2010 with an auction result of GBP 5,193,250.00 (€ 6,244,298.00).
