etching, 1752, on laid paper, watermark Three Magi, a very fine, early proof impression of the first state (of two), before the plate number, printing with a rich, unevenly wiped plate tone, with various pentimenti along the left side of Joseph still distinct, the subject along the right sheet edge partially uninked, with thread margins or trimmed on the platemark, in very good condition

Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In July last year Christies in London held the auction Old Master and British Works on Paper: Drawings, Watercolours and Prints 1500-1900, which included the work Joseph adoring the Child while two Angels sing, from: The Flight into Egypt by Giovanni Domenico Tiepolo. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 3,024.00 (€ 3,611.19). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Giovanni Domenico Tiepolo achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Tiepolo Family in July 2015 with an auction result of GBP 2,837,000.00 (€ 4,021,913.13).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Juli letzten Jahres führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master and British Works on Paper: Drawings, Watercolours and Prints 1500-1900 durch, in der auch die Arbeit Joseph adoring the Child while two Angels sing, from: The Flight into Egypt von Giovanni Domenico Tiepolo zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 3.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 3.024,00 (€ 3.611,19) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Giovanni Domenico Tiepolo erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Tiepolo Family im Juli 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.837.000,00 (€ 4.021.913,13).
