Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Giovanni Battista Franco could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in January 2008 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Important Old Master Paintings Including European Works of Art auction, the work Landscape With Figures, Possibly The Journey To Bethlehem changed hands for USD 193,000.00 (€ 130,045.15) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 200,000.00 – 300,000.00. Other works by Giovanni Battista Franco have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in March 2021 by the work Deux Études De Squelettes at EUR 250,000.00.
