Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2003 Christies in New York held the auction Old Master & 19th Century Drawings including Works on Paper, which included the work An ideal female head in profile to the left, after Michelangelo, with other head studies by Giovanni Battista Franco. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 33,460.00 (€ 31,157.46) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Giovanni Battista Franco have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Deux Études De Squelettes in March 2021 with an auction result of EUR 250,000.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Januar 2003 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Old Master & 19th Century Drawings including Works on Paper durch, in der auch die Arbeit An ideal female head in profile to the left, after Michelangelo, with other head studies von Giovanni Battista Franco zur Versteigerung kam.
