Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A battle scene outside a walled city by Giovanni Battista Foggini was sold in the Old Master & British Drawings & Watercolours auction at Christies in London in July 2018. The price achieved of GBP 6,250.00 (€ 7,007.62) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Giovanni Battista Foggini achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Bronze Group Of Apollo Flaying Marsyas in January this year with an auction result of USD 882,000.00 (€ 812,304.29).
