Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Giovanni Battista Cipriani achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in January last year. In the Old Master and British Works on Paper auction, the work Study of a frieze depicting Alcibiades and Hetaerae, after the antique sold for USD 8,820.00 (€ 7,866.57) - well above the upper estimate of USD 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Giovanni Battista Cipriani achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Boreas And Oreithyia in October 2020 with an auction result of USD 352,800.00 (€ 302,910.62).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Giovanni Battista Cipriani erzielte im Januar letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Master and British Works on Paper wurde die Arbeit Study of a frieze depicting Alcibiades and Hetaerae, after the antique für USD 8.820,00 (€ 7.866,57) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 3.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Giovanni Battista Cipriani erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Boreas And Oreithyia im Oktober 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 352.800,00 (€ 302.910,62).
