Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Giovanni Battista Cipriani achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2018. In the Old Master Works on Paper: Prints and Drawings for under £5,000 auction, the work Poseidon rising from the waves with nereids sold for GBP 3,500.00 (€ 3,899.31) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Giovanni Battista Cipriani achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Boreas And Oreithyia in October 2020 with an auction result of USD 352,800.00 (€ 302,910.62).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Giovanni Battista Cipriani erzielte im Dezember 2018 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Master Works on Paper: Prints and Drawings for under £5,000 wurde die Arbeit Poseidon rising from the waves with nereids für GBP 3.500,00 (€ 3.899,31) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 1.200,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Giovanni Battista Cipriani erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Boreas And Oreithyia im Oktober 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 352.800,00 (€ 302.910,62).
