Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2020 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master and British Works on Paper, including Portrait Miniatures from the Pohl-Ströher Collection, which included the work Recto: a nymph and a cupid dragging a satyr; Verso: a satyr by Giovanni Battista Cipriani. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,200.00 – 1,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,260.00 (€ 1,407.53) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Giovanni Battista Cipriani achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Boreas And Oreithyia in October 2020 with an auction result of USD 352,800.00 (€ 302,910.62).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2020 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Master and British Works on Paper, including Portrait Miniatures from the Pohl-Ströher Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit Recto: a nymph and a cupid dragging a satyr; Verso: a satyr von Giovanni Battista Cipriani zur Versteigerung kam.
