Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Continence Of Scipio by Giovanni Antonio Pellegrini was sold in the Old Master Paintings and Sculpture auction at Christies in New York in May 2019. The price achieved of USD 12,500.00 (€ 11,211.77) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Giovanni Antonio Pellegrini achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Bathsheba at her toilet in April 2007 with an auction result of USD 216,000.00 (€ 158,125.92).
