A top price for Giorgio Vasari - as previously expected
In January 2000 Christies in New York held the auction Important Old Master Paintings, which included the work The Pietà by Giorgio Vasari. It changed hands for a price of USD 574,500.00 (€ 588,808.04) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 400,000.00 – 600,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, The Pietà is the most expensive artwork by Giorgio Vasari that we have observed at auctions so far.

Im Januar 2000 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Important Old Master Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Pietà von Giorgio Vasari zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 574.500,00 (€ 588.808,04) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 400.000,00 – 600.000,00. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist The Pietà das teuerste Kunstwerk von Giorgio Vasari, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
