Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2016 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master and British Works on Paper Including drawings from the Oppé Collection, which included the work Horsemen Entering The City Of Antwerp by Gillis Neyts. The price achieved of GBP 10,000.00 (€ 11,882.16) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gillis Neyts - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A landscape with a monumental tree and an amorous couple, which sold at auction in July 2014 for GBP 35,000.00 (€ 44,146.00).
