The work The Adoration of the Shepherds by Gillis Mostaert was sold in the Old Master Pictures auction at Christies in Amsterdam in May 2000. It achieved a price of NLG 16,382.80 (€ 7,153.42), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 37%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gillis Mostaert achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A village kermesse in July 2003 with an auction result of GBP 184,450.00 (€ 241,088.59).

Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von NLG 16.382,80 (€ 7.153,42) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 37%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gillis Mostaert erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A village kermesse im Juli 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 184.450,00 (€ 241.088,59).
