In September 2010 Christies in London held the auction Lehman Brothers: Artwork and Ephemera, which included the work An excursion steamer clearing her berth and heading down river towards London Bridge, her decks crowded with passengers by Gideon Yates. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,375.00 (€ 2,746.94), 58% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gideon Yates - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work View of Waterloo Bridge, eastwards from the north bank of the Thames, St. Paul's beyond; and View from above Goding's New Lion Ale Brewery looking towards Westminster Abbey and the north bank of the Thames (illustrated), which sold at auction in March 2007 for GBP 4,560.00 (€ 6,711.80).
