This artwork by Giacomo Guardi achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in January 2020. In the Old Master & British Drawings Including Works from the Collection of Jean Bonna auction, the work View of San Giorgio Maggiore, Venice sold for USD 23,750.00 (€ 21,409.90) - well above the upper estimate of USD 10,000.00. Admittedly, works by Giacomo Guardi have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Venice, A View Of A Regatta On The Grand Canal Looking Towards The Rialto Bridge, With The Palazzo Balbi To The Left in July 2016 with an auction result of GBP 125,000.00 (€ 148,527.04).
