Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Giacomo Guardi could be acquired at Christies in New York in October last year for an unexpectedly low price. In the The Ann & Gordon Getty Collection: Volume 2 |Old Master, 19th and 20th Century Paintings, Day Sale auction, the work A Pair Of Capricci: The Venetian Lagoon With Ruins And Figures changed hands for USD 9,450.00 (€ 9,512.78) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Giacomo Guardi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Venice, A View Of A Regatta On The Grand Canal Looking Towards The Rialto Bridge, With The Palazzo Balbi To The Left in July 2016 with an auction result of GBP 125,000.00 (€ 148,527.04).
