A top price for Giacomo Guardi - as previously expected
In July 2016 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Masters Evening Sale, which included the work Venice, A View Of A Regatta On The Grand Canal Looking Towards The Rialto Bridge, With The Palazzo Balbi To The Left by Giacomo Guardi. The price achieved of GBP 125,000.00 (€ 148,527.04) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 100,000.00 – 150,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Venice, A View Of A Regatta On The Grand Canal Looking Towards The Rialto Bridge, With The Palazzo Balbi To The Left is the most expensive artwork by Giacomo Guardi that we have observed at auctions so far.
