This artwork by Giacinto Gigante achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in February 2012. In the 19th Century European Art auction, the work Peasants resting above the Bay of Naples, Vesuvius beyond sold for GBP 27,500.00 (€ 32,835.73) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 12,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Giacinto Gigante - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Tramonto a Bacoli, which sold at auction in November 2002 for EUR 86,800.00.

Dieses Kunstwerk von Giacinto Gigante erzielte im Februar 2012 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 19th Century European Art wurde die Arbeit Peasants resting above the Bay of Naples, Vesuvius beyond für GBP 27.500,00 (€ 32.835,73) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 12.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Giacinto Gigante mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Tramonto a Bacoli beobachtet, die im November 2002 für EUR 86.800,00 versteigert wurde.
