This artwork by Giacinto Gigante achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2019. In the Old Master Drawings: Online auction, the work A view of the bay of Naples, with Vesuvius in the background, seen from the north sold for GBP 7,500.00 (€ 8,864.12) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00. Admittedly, works by Giacinto Gigante have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Tramonto a Bacoli in November 2002 with an auction result of EUR 86,800.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Giacinto Gigante erzielte im Dezember 2019 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Master Drawings: Online wurde die Arbeit A view of the bay of Naples, with Vesuvius in the background, seen from the north für GBP 7.500,00 (€ 8.864,12) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 3.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Giacinto Gigante auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Tramonto a Bacoli im November 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 86.800,00.
