Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2010 Christies in New York held the auction Old Master & 19th Century Paintings, Drawings, & Watercolors, which included the work Travellers approaching a rock formation, a mountainous river landscape beyond by Gherardo Cibo. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 16,250.00 (€ 11,715.93) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gherardo Cibo achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A sketchbook with 22 leaves, bound in vellum, containing 24 studies of plants with discourses on their properties and with sketches for decorative elements in July 2011 with an auction result of GBP 337,250.00 (€ 387,044.83).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Januar 2010 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Old Master & 19th Century Paintings, Drawings, & Watercolors durch, in der auch die Arbeit Travellers approaching a rock formation, a mountainous river landscape beyond von Gherardo Cibo zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 16.250,00 (€ 11.715,93) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gherardo Cibo erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A sketchbook with 22 leaves, bound in vellum, containing 24 studies of plants with discourses on their properties and with sketches for decorative elements im Juli 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 337.250,00 (€ 387.044,83).
