This artwork by Gherardo Cibo achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in January 2021. In the Old Master & British Drawings including property from The Cornelia Bessie Estate auction, the work Houses and trees seen above a wall sold for USD 21,250.00 (€ 17,511.33) - well above the upper estimate of USD 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gherardo Cibo achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A sketchbook with 22 leaves, bound in vellum, containing 24 studies of plants with discourses on their properties and with sketches for decorative elements in July 2011 with an auction result of GBP 337,250.00 (€ 387,044.83).
